My work is primarily meant to be enjoyed visually for it's own sake. These latest works are meant to convey message only in an abstract and general way. My "brushes" consist of old motorcycle transmission parts and other techno-industrial detritus. The recuring motif of intermeshing gears illustrates my impression of the world around us as a machine of monstrous complexity and interconnectedness. Is this dehumanizing to the utmost, or are we all vital components in a system beyond comprehension? -Jess Samuelson
